fall '20 style has settled in
Issue 09: it's been a while
Hello helloooooo,
It’s been a while. I’ve gone through a clothing rut, cried about my lack of pant options out of the blue, and that’s only been the fashion part of my brain.
But! Last night I watched devil wears prada (a movie that has shaped me more than I thought) and now I’m riding a new cerulean wave.
I’m going to send out a Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale email with links! the day of. Look OUT. But for this email, I wanted to share somethings you can look out for this holiday shopping period in terms of trends and deals.
Some shops I’ve learned about since we last talked:
NA-KD, a trendy clothing shop with free shipping always and an…ok sustainability system.
Glassons, still trendy but more sustainable I think. Lots of good basics, Aritzia dupes, and throwback styles.
Storets, you really have to have a specific type of style to wear these clothes and while that isn’t me, I can appreciate their early call on the sweater vest and fashion sweats trend.
Grey Bandit, an Instagram brand 100%.

I think that deals will be good but not incredible. They’ll likely be less % off than you’d expect or have a high order threshold that is unrealistic for the average person. Additionally, shipping is going to be at a glacial pace so some stores have already started their sales. These preview sales might not be that much worse than the big deals on the actual day.
On: trends
Incoming:
🕺 Flared pants. I promise I’m not saying this just because I bought a pair of flared yoga pants myself – this style, hopefully, makes you look tall and relaxed and ties in with one of the outgoing trends below.
🦆 Cropped fashion puffers in neutral tones. They were popular a few years ago, but this year they are big in the creams, tans, sages, and browns.

🌲 Sweater vests; cropped mock neck long sleeves; straight-legged pants (not jeans); faux leather blazers, jackets, and pants; flannel (especially over hoodies); collared shirts; chunky boots (likely started by prada this year?); shackets; pleated tennis skirts; earth tones.
Outgoing 👋:
🦶 Cropped pants. Ankle length pants are still in stores, but we’re now all about that elongation, friends.
🏂 Winter. This is only speculation but it seems like very few young folk are dressing for the weather. As much as they will it, a crop top and a zip up hoodie is not winter appropriate.
